It's a breathtaking journey from Buika 's flamenco singing to the groovy sounds of Eric Legnini , electro jazz from Bugge Wesseltoft to Sufi vocals from Dhafer Youssef , Camélia Ben Naceur 's expression on the piano to the crystal-clear sound of Djeli Moussa Diawara's kora strings ( Kora Jazz Trio ), from Malcolm Braff 's percussive playing to Tord Gustavsen 's sublime understated touch... you are invited to join us as we switch back and forth along our musical meridian from the heat of the African savannah to Scandinavia's fjords. You'll find yourself caught up in an irresistible maelstrom that at times will take your feet off the ground, at others make them pound!
These artistes bring their music, creating moods echoing their home- and adopted lands - Guinea, Senegal, Spain, Tunisia, Norway, Belgium, France, and Burkina Faso... showing quite brilliantly how apparent collisions resolve into harmony between people and cultures across the globe.
Oloron will be the centre of the world for this fifteenth festival. The variety of musical traditions with generous helpings of improvisational freedom will come together in a stunning blend of cultures and sensitivities.
